A recent conversation:
Me: "Sarah, you always make me smile."
Sarah: "I make you smile every day!"
"Yes, you do!"
"Mommy, you're wonderful."
And another time in the car:
"Mommy, you are so precious. I would open up a treasure chest, and there you are! I love you so much. I like you." And then I hear kisses being blown in my direction from the back seat. (As precious as that sounds, she was parroting me with her treasure chest speech. She's heard me call her my treasure and how I would find her in a treasure chest many times. But I believe she fully means it when she says it back to me!) : )
Oh, my Sarah. Our little girl whose favorite things are talking, (and she never tires of it. Ever,) smiling, laughing, hugging, dancing, singing, playing instruments, (I wish I could type that the way she says it..."Mom, I'm playing in-stru-ments!") being silly, playing doctor--every day, jumping, spinning, doing "gymnastics" (okay, it's mostly somersaults on the carpet,) sitting on your lap, being with people, talking to you, (oh, did I say that one already?) bugging her brother, Ben, encouraging you, and knowing she is making you proud. She is brave, honest about her feelings, loving, and full of joy. She is so very happy.
Sarah is honestly, truly, in every sense of the word.....a treasure. She was created by God, in His image. A masterpiece made to be loved and cherished. She is our daughter, and we love her with all of our hearts. With every bit of our souls. Just, exactly like we love the rest of our children.
I just now finished spending some time over at Wonderful, Waiting Kids. I rarely spend much time on waiting children websites anymore because we just can't adopt right now, and my heart hurts so much to see their pictures, I can barely stand to look. I feel like I can't even catch my breath sometimes when I read the profiles. When I hear in my mind their sweet voices asking when their mommies and daddies will come, I simply can't bear it.
All I can do is imagine our Sarah there in the orphanage. A face in the crowd. Yes, maybe these children have a special nanny who loves them. Maybe they have a best friend. I am sure they have fun sometimes. At least most of them must.
But none of this is a substitute for a real family. A family who will see them as they truly are. Every one of them--a priceless treasure. Just like Sarah.
Please, won't you consider adopting one of these children? Children from everywhere--China, Russia, Ethiopia, or right in your own state. They are not just statistics. They are real children longing for love from a family. And they deserve it.
Why not take a minute and check out one of the sites on the right side of my page. And really pray about adopting! And if you are thinking about it, would you let me know in the comments? It would make me so happy to know you are considering it!
And I'm sure it would make Sarah smile too.
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly- John 10:10

Just a couple of quotes, courtesy of my kids...
The other day, my Josh was in his sign language class that my friend teaches at a nearby elementary school. It is just a twenty minute class that meets during recess time. So, Josh had gone inside, and I normally wait out in the car reading until he gets back. This time I had Ben with me. Soon, all the kids came running outside for recess. Ben looked out the window, and exclaimed, "Mom! There are like a thousand kids at that park!" .....Yeah....it is kind of sad that my son had never seen what recess looks like up close and personal!
And...
And...
The other night I was tucking Sarah into bed. I was smiling at her and singing to her, and we were saying silly things and talking about the day. She reached up and touched my eyelashes and said, "What's this?" "It's my eyelashes." I kept smiling and gazing at her.... Then, "What's this?" "It's my eyelid." And then she pointed to the side of my eye. "What's this?" "What?" She pointed again. "What's this?" "What?" She paused. "....Whiskers?" I never thought of crows' feet looking like whiskers! Lol. : )

Just for fun...
Hi there! Sorry if you have been waiting for me to get back on here. I've been slacking. : )
Jacob is 11 now, and these little quotes are all from when he was about 3 and 4 years old, but still, they are hilarious, so here you go:
"Mommy, I could squeeze very hard and go in your mouth, and go down and look at your bones. You could go too! You could just take off your head, and go down. I would put a ladder down there so you wouldn't get hurt." Honestly, I have NO IDEA where he came up with this stuff!
"Mommy, say, 'Hi, Jacob.' Don't call me Sweetie, or Honey, or, What else do you call me?"
Me: "Jacob, do you see how you're acting?" "No, I can't see my whole self at the same time!"
He was doing something with his mouth that sounded kind of like a whistle... "Mommy, we should put a sign on our house. You could paint it and we can read it. It says, 'Whistling Boy.'"
"Someday, Josh is going to turn into something....a real boy like me!"
We were riding home at night-- "It's like we're under hair. And then in the morning someone cuts the hair." ???
"Scott built the boys a fort for their Rescue Heroes. Jacob yelled, "Daddy--You're the best maker!"
"Mom, are you really Jesus? Because your hair looks like Jesus."
We visited a different church and he commented about the pastor, "I thought he was the president. The president of the Bush."
He would always say, "Mommy, guess what? I love you. And guess what else comes with it?" And he'd give me a kiss. : )

LOL : )
Taking a little break from LAUNDRY and switching the seasons in the kids' dresser drawers to give you a little smile today. : )
Ben age 4:--(We were talking about when he was born...) "Why was it stinky in your tummy?" "What do you mean? It wasn't stinky in there." "Then why did you have to give me a bath?" "Because, there was stuff all over you." "What stuff? Food?"
Me--"Ben, you know what? One time Jesus gave me a REALLY good present. You know what it was?" Ben age 4-- (grins) "Me." Me--"Yes! How'd you know that?" Ben-- "Because you really love me."
Me--"Ben, don't grow up!" Ben--"Mom, I am. I have to. But don't worry. You'll still love me."
Ben--"Mom, do you know why I like to lick the drool when it comes down in my eyes?" "You mean the tears?" "Yeah. Because I like to taste the sugar!" "You mean the salt?"
Ben--(Patting my chest) "Mom, is this your milk thing? Why do you still have those?"
When we were in the process of adopting Sarah, the boys were talking about "whose" the new baby would be, and I had been saying all of us. Ben said, "I think she is going to be mine." Josh said, "No, she is going to be Mom and Dad's." And Ben said, "Yeah, cuz they bought it." : ) : ) : )

Here are some cute quotes after yesterday's little attack on the television
I am taking a quick break from cleaning as I work to get stuff done before our hospital stay tomorrow-Wednesday. I came across my little notebook I write down kid quotes in and thought I'd share a few more...
Josh age 6--"How do babies get there? Does God just open up your tummy when you're sleeping and pop-em in?"
Jacob age 7--When he was getting proficient at reading-- "Yep, I know how to read. Now all I have to learn is how to go underwater, and then all my learning will be complete."
Josh age 5--Scott's back was hurting and he said, "Why? Do you have a crap in there?" (Cramp!)
Jacob age 7--I didn't know that when I drink water it makes me stronger. Kinda like my transformer cyber key."
Ben age 2 1/2--I was telling him he could play outside and he said, "Yeah, man! Dude, you're good!" with a big thumbs up. ; )
